Tsunami Warning System - NSFW Midweek Post |
March 25, 2005 After the recent terrible earthquake and tsunami in countries around the Indian Ocean, your Cap'n thought it would be a fine public service to pass along a tsunami warning system that I've used for a while. It is almost foolproof. It takes into account the scientific fact that marine earthquakes capable of producing tsunamis might not be felt on the sand of the beach, but Newton's Law will always allow INDIRECT observation of such an earthquake. Follow these steps: 1. When at the beach, go only to beaches where topless bathing is permitted. 2. At such a topless beach, find a place to station yourself near several topless women who can all be seen with one glance. 3. Maintain observation of your "indicators" as long as you are on the beach. If you detect an earthquake via the indicators, run for higher ground.
